
“Enough”. American President Joe Biden responded in this way by calling again for an “Assault Rifle Ban” following another mass shooting in Raleigh, North Carolina.
“We mourned and prayed along with the many families who were forced to bear the terrible burden of the massacres,” Biden said in a statement.
The Democratic president’s efforts to ban semi-automatic assault weapons have so far met with stiff resistance from Republican lawmakers and senators.
“The American people support this common sense measure to remove weapons of war from our streets,” Biden added.
In Raleigh, North Carolina, a 15-year-old boy allegedly killed five people and wounded two more while shooting indiscriminately in the area. The motives of the attacker, hospitalized in critical condition, remain unclear.
About 49,000 people were killed by bullets in the US in 2021, which equates to more than 130 deaths per day, more than half of them suicide.
