
A power plant in the Russian city of Belgorod, on the border with Ukraine, allegedly caught fire on Friday after an attack by Ukrainian forces, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said, AFP reports.
“After the attack, the power plant in Belgorod caught fire (…),” Gladkov wrote in Telegram, adding that it would take “up to four hours” to activate the backup infrastructure and restore the power supply. It is not known how many people were affected by the outage.

On Friday morning, Russian state media reported that several people were killed and injured in an explosion at an ammunition depot in the Belgorod region, on the border with Ukraine.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened an investigation in connection with the alleged detonation by Ukrainian military personnel of an ammunition warehouse in the village of Oktyabrskyi in the Belgorod region of Russia, the Russian state agencies RIA Novosti and TASS report.
