“The armed forces of Ukraine liberated five more settlements in the Beryslav district of the Kherson region: Novovasylivka, Novogrigorivka, Nova Kamianka, Trifonivka, Chervone,” the Ukrainian presidency reported.

Ukrainian troops have been conducting a counteroffensive for several weeks in this region, which has been controlled by Moscow’s troops since the first weeks of the war.

Faced with strong Russian resistance, the Ukrainian army in early October made significant gains in the region, particularly near the Dnipro River, south of Kryvyi Rih, an industrial city and the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

In this region, Kyiv also shelled bridges several times in order to hinder the logistical support of Russian troops.

Kherson Oblast is one of four regions of Ukraine annexed by Moscow, a decision condemned by Kyiv and its Western allies.
