Music by Serge Gainsbourg, French charm and the setting sun: Ukraine’s army has flipped the entire military communications code of a video asking Paris to show “romanticism” by sending new Caesar artillery, Reuters and Agerpres reported on Wednesday.
A war is not waged with flowers, but Kyiv has the honor of trying.
The video published on Twitter by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is undoubtedly the most original version of all Kyiv’s requests to increase military aid to the West in the fight against Russia, AFP notes.
“Romantic gestures take many forms,” reads the clip, which also features roses, chocolate, sunsets on the banks of the Seine, the Eiffel Tower in the background, and even two lovers embracing.

“But if you really want to win our hearts, nothing compares to self-propelled and highly mobile 155 mm artillery,” continues the 41-second video, which includes images of Caesar’s guns and the erotic “Je t ‘aime moi non plus” by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin.
Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that Paris plans to send six more Caesar cannons to Ukraine in addition to the 18 already delivered.
The firing range of these guns is 40 kilometers.
France will send additional tanks to Romania
“Merci beaucoup, France,” the clip ends in French with photos of the French and Ukrainian presidents, then continues in English: “Send more, please.”
The video, which has gone viral on social media, is broadcast with a few words: “Sophie Marceau…. Isabel Adjani…. Brigitte Bardot…. Emmanuel Macron!… and (weapon) CAESAR!” .
The release of the video comes two days after a large-scale Russian bombing of several Ukrainian cities and facilities, bombings that have reignited the debate over strengthening Kyiv’s defense capabilities with the help of its Western allies.
France’s defense ministry announced on Tuesday it was stepping up support for NATO’s eastern flank, sending more tanks to Romania, Rafale fighter jets to Lithuania and infantry to Estonia, but said nothing about Ukraine.
