Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal appealed to citizens and businesses to reduce electricity consumption between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. to stabilize the power system after damage caused by Russian missile attacks this week.

“We are grateful to all Ukrainians who deliberately reduced their electricity consumption yesterday and the day after yesterday. The total saving was 10%. We also thank the mayors, heads of communities, who responsibly approached the reduction of electricity consumption in communities,” said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shigal, News.ro reports.

However, in order to avoid blackouts, “it is necessary to achieve a targeted reduction in electricity consumption from 17:00 to 22:00 throughout Ukraine by 25%,” he emphasized.

Shmihal asked to turn off “outdoor electrical advertising and other energy-consuming devices” in the evening.

He also urged people to use gas and coal sparingly after turning on the heating.

“The minimum indoor temperature this winter will be 16 degrees, and the average temperature will be 18 degrees. This is a necessity and this is our contribution to victory,” the Ukrainian official concluded.
