A new video appeared on social networks, showing how the Ukrainian military managed to knock down a Russian armored vehicle that was on a mission to rescue the crew of another immobilized combat vehicle.

The video shows the crew of a decommissioned armored personnel carrier, the BMP-1, hiding in a funnel that looks like an explosion, while Russian soldiers quickly emerge from the ground, while a second armored vehicle, a BMP-2 modified to be equipped with an anti-tank gun, arrives on the scene.

At one point, one of the Russian soldiers in an armored rescue vehicle gets out of it to help the evacuees into the back of the vehicle, and the vehicle starts firing a machine gun.

Just seconds after the military “rescuer” manages to get back to his car, he tries to launch the Tornado, only to be hit by what appears to be a missile from a Javelin or NLAW anti-tank system.

But as you can see in the footage, the Russian military was probably lucky as the car managed to escape despite apparently being badly hit. The fact that it is not destroyed instantly is even more remarkable considering that it is an armored vehicle, not a tank, and the hit comes from above, as you can see in passing in the video.

As a rule, these hits from the upper part of the vehicle penetrate the armor, including tanks, and cause devastating detonations of ammunition on board, as evidenced by numerous videos distributed by the Ukrainian military regarding the so-called “turret throwing competition” of Russian tanks.

But it is very likely that the Russian servicemen in the car, which can be seen in the new footage, were seriously injured, such hits pierce the armor of the cars, causing heat inside them.

In addition, the recording shows how, at 1:06, when the rocket hits the car, its front hatch automatically springs back to the open position and remains so for the rest of the recording, with none of the Russian soldiers on board attempting to close it.
