Ukrainian troops are advancing in the east and south, forcing Russian troops to retreat quickly on both fronts. This was also confirmed on Wednesday evening by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, who stated that his soldiers are “continuing the offensive” in the autumn offensive, The Guardian notes. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin says the military situation is “stabilizing” in Ukrainian territories he says he has annexed, although he does not control.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that last week the Ukrainian military carried out significant and rapid offensives against Russian troops, recapturing dozens of cities in the southern and eastern regions that Russia declared annexed.

Military experts believe that Russia is at its weakest point, mainly due to the decision not to mobilize reservists earlier, as well as due to massive losses of troops and equipment in the recent period.

In the Kherson region, Ukraine has expanded the control zone by 10-20 kilometers, reports the Southern Military Command.

Zelenskyy confirmed the recapture of the villages of Novovoskresenske, Novogrigorivka and Petropavlivka, saying the settlements were “liberated from the fake referendum and stabilized” during a speech on Wednesday night.

Kyrylo Stremousov, the governor of the Kherson region appointed by Moscow, called Russia’s withdrawal a tactical “regroupment” for a “retaliatory strike.” The extent of Russia’s withdrawal remains unclear.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, said that his troops are “continuing the offensive” in the autumn offensive.

“While the ‘Russian Parliament’ is intoxicated with futile annexation attempts, our soldiers continue their offensive,” Reznikov wrote on Twitter, demonstrating the course of the counteroffensive launched by Ukrainian troops a month ago.

“This is the best answer to all ‘referendums’, ‘decrees’, ‘treaties’ and pathetic speeches,” added Reznikov.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that the military situation is “stabilizing” in Ukrainian territories he claims to have annexed, but where his forces are suffering a series of setbacks against the Ukrainian army.
