500 newly mobilized Russian soldiers are denouncing “inhumane” conditions, lack of weapons and brutal treatment by officers, according to a video released, according to independent Russian publications The Moscow Times and Meduza.
After President Vladimir Putin ordered a partial mobilization, several images of recruits sleeping on the ground, armed with antiquated rifles and ordered to scavenge for supplies on their own, went viral online.
According to a video published by Insider, about 500 Russian conscripts gathered in the Belgorod region of western Russia near the border with Ukraine, without training or knowing where they were stationed.
“No one needs us,” says the person behind the camera filming Russian soldiers allegedly at the train station.

They have weapons, but no ammunition or food
The armed men in the video complain that they were issued weapons, but were not included in the unit, and that they have been living in “inhumane conditions” for a week, buying food for themselves.
“We spent an absurd amount of money just to feed ourselves, not to mention ammunition,” says a Russian military man.
Radio Europa Liberă journalist Mark Krutov, declared a “foreign agent” in Russia, wrote on Twitter that one of the men in the video was wearing the symbols of Wagner’s mercenary group.
A source of the Russian news agency RIA Novosti in the Western Military District reported that the echelon of soldiers caught in the video was not heading to the front, but to a training center for training. According to her, a total of 299 people are in the unit, the weapons assigned to them are accounted for, Meduza notes.
Western military analysts say the Kremlin’s rush to send recruits to the front lines will lead to high death rates, unreliable troops and low morale.
