On Tuesday, the Kremlin offered the first reaction to the “peace plan” with Ukraine proposed by Elon Musk, the richest man on the planet, to Dmitry Peskov, who welcomed his “very positive” step, TASS reports.

At his daily press conference, Peskov noted that Musk’s “initiative” “kept many people awake” in Ukraine, the Baltic states, Poland, and Europe as a whole, stressing that “first of all, it kept robots awake.”

“It is very positive that a person like Musk is looking for a way out of the situation,” a spokesman for President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday, adding that many of the ideas in the proposals made by the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX “deserve attention.”

But he rejected the idea of repeating referendums in the occupied Ukrainian territories, which Moscow formally annexed last Friday.

“On the other hand, all these thoughts, even those who find the mind to think, are shattered by such decisions as today’s decision by Zelensky about the impossibility of negotiations with Vladimir Putin,” said Peskov.

What Elon Musk proposed in his “plan” for peace

During a poll on his Twitter page, Musk suggested repeating referendums on annexation under the supervision of the UN and that “Russia should leave if it is the will of the people.”

On Monday, he also suggested that Ukraine recognize that Crimea belongs to Russia, ensure compliance with the peninsula’s water supply and accept neutrality status.

“Most likely, this will be the final result – the question is how many more people will die. It is also worth noting that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome of this conflict is a nuclear war,” Elon Musk also noted.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, reacted to Musk’s proposals on Twitter by asking his followers who Elon Musk prefers: the one who supports Ukraine or the one who supports Russia:

We will remind you that the Starlink satellite Internet system, created by Musk’s company SpaceX, was activated for free throughout Ukraine from the first days of the war. In the months that followed, several Ukrainian soldiers and commanders spoke of the system’s importance to Kyiv’s armed forces.
