
A 74-year-old Dutch tourist was killed and several others were injured in a collision between two buses (city and tourist) on Sunday in the southeast of Ecuador, the country’s authorities said today.
Nineteen Dutch tourists (aged 41 to 75) were taken to a hospital in the city of Tena, at least two are in critical condition.
Every year in Ecuador, thousands of people die in traffic accidents. Nearly 1,500 people have died in traffic accidents since the beginning of this year, according to the National Transportation Agency.
Last July, eight people died and 20 were injured when a bus overturned in a suburb of the capital, Quito.
