
At least 19 people were killed and 27 injured in a kamikaze attack on an educational institution in the city. Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, at the time the students arrived, police said, but no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
“Students were preparing for an exam when a suicide bomber blew himself up in this study center. “Unfortunately, 19 people died and 27 were injured,” police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.
Many residents of the western district of Kabul, where the explosion took place, belong to the Hazaras, an ethnic minority that has been the subject of attacks in the past, including by the Islamic State group.
Teenage students were among 24 people killed in a 2020 attack on an education center in western Kabul that the Islamic State claimed.
