The death toll in the crash of a migrant boat off the coast of Syria has risen to 94 after more bodies were found on the Mediterranean coast of Baniyas, Syrian state television reported this afternoon.
The migrant boat set sail earlier this week from Lebanon.
Syrian authorities began to find bodies in the sea off Tartus on Thursday night.
The Syrian Transport Ministry said, citing survivors, that the ship left Munich in northern Lebanon on Thursday with 120-150 people on board and headed for Europe.
Due to the economic crisis in Lebanon, many are trying to leave the country. In addition to the Lebanese, the ships often carry people who are already refugees from Syria and Palestine.
