The amount of damage caused by the powerful cyclone Fiona, which hit the coast Canada in the Atlantic on Saturday (September 24) is “unprecedented” and it will take many months to restore destroyed critical infrastructure, Emergency Management Secretary Bill Blair said today.
“The scale of what we’re dealing with is, I think, unprecedented,” Blair told Reuters when asked how the situation compares to the passage of Hurricane Dorian through Nova Scotia in 2019.
“I think it will probably take many months to restore some important infrastructure, buildings and homes,” he continued, explaining that the roofs of schools and community centers were blown off by the wind.
