On the other hand, the French presidency reported that Emmanuel Macron told the head of the Kremlin that the Russian occupation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is actually what endangers its security.

According to a statement by the French president quoted by Reuters, Macron asked Putin to remove heavy and light weapons from the plant and told him that Moscow must follow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recommendations to ensure the safety of the facility. .

“The President will remain in contact with President (Vladimir) Zelensky, as well as with the Director General of the IAEA, and will speak again with President Putin in the coming days so that an agreement can be found to guarantee the safety of the power plant,” he said. – clarified the Elysee Palace.

Energoatom, the Ukrainian operator of the power plant (ZAEP), announced in a press release on Sunday that the operation of the plant has been completely halted for safety reasons.
