OUR Ukrainian chairman Vladimir Zelensky said today that air defense systems are a priority for his country as it tries to protect cities and towns from Russian strikes.
Speech at a joint press conference in Kyiv with its president European Commission Ursula von der Leyen told Zelensky that Ukraine has not yet received a positive response from Israel about the possibility of acquiring air defense systems.
Zelenskiy said the air defense systems previously promised by Germany and the US have not yet arrived in Ukraine.
Germany sends two additional rocket launchers
It is noted that Germany will supply Kyiv with two more multiple launch rocket systems, as Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced on Thursday in Berlin.
“We have decided to supply Ukraine with two more MARS II multiple launch rocket systems, including 200 missiles,” he said at a Bundeswehr conference, adding that training for Ukrainian pilots is expected to begin in September.
“In addition, we will send 50 Dingo armored personnel carriers to Ukraine,” Lambrecht said, referring to the armored personnel carrier that the German military actively used during the NATO military operation in Afghanistan.
He also said that the agreement on the exchange of infantry fighting vehicles with Greece and Ukraine is almost completed, which means that Germany will soon supply Greece with 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and Greece, in turn, will supply 40 Soviet BMP-1 FV. in Ukraine.
