His Revolutionary Guard Iran hijacked a ship in the Persian Gulf on charges of trying to smuggle 757,000 liters of diesel fuel out of the country, state news agency IRNA reported.
No explanation was given for this ship (flag, company owner, name, etc.).
The agency added that seven crew members, all of whom are foreigners, have surrendered to judicial authorities.
Iran, which has some of the lowest fuel prices in the world due to subsidies and the devaluation of the local currency, is struggling to combat fuel smuggling to neighboring countries by land and sea. In recent months, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have seized several ships in the Persian Gulf.
