As “Queen Consort” Camilla is to be crowned alongside Charles at Queen Elizabeth’s direct wish, having come a long way since then-Princess Diana of Wales called her a “whore”.

The couple married on 9 April 2005 in a civil ceremony followed by a religious blessing at St George’s Chapel in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II.

Camilla assumed the title of princess consort, a foretaste of what Charles hoped would happen with his mother’s death. The event drew 20,000 people to the streets leading up to Windsor Castle, the clearest sign that Camilla had won over the British public.
