“The decision was supported by the majority of the deputies present,” said the deputy head of the local institution, Dmytro Palyuga, without specifying how many deputies voted for the decision.

Palyuga published a document on his Twitter page, which will be sent to the State Duma in Moscow.

It says that in the war started by Vladimir Putin on February 24, “capable parts” of the Russian army are being destroyed, “capable youth, citizens of Russia” are being killed, the country’s economy is suffering, the length of Russia’s border with NATO countries has doubled, and Ukraine is getting a new weapons, although one of the goals of the “special military operation” was the “demilitarization” of the country.

The document also states that the Russian president’s decision to conduct a “military special operation harms the security of Russia and its citizens.”

“In this regard, we ask you, as deputies of the State Duma, to come up with a proposal to charge the President of the Russian Federation with treason with the aim of removing him from office,” the appeal reads.

At the beginning of March, the municipal councils of Smolnynsky sent an appeal even to the head of the Kremlin.

“Because of your historical fantasies, the fate of thousands of Russian soldiers and millions of Ukrainian citizens is at risk. The international authority of the Russian Federation has already been dealt an irreparable blow,” the document says.

The advisers urged Putin to “stop the bloodshed, immediately withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine and resign.”
