
The federal government will make decisions “very quickly” to spare citizens from its consequences energy crisissaid the chancellor Olaf Soltzwho, however, stressed that compared to a few months earlier Germany is now in a much better position in terms of supply security natural gas.
“No one should be left alone with their problems,” Mr. Soltz stressed on the sidelines of a two-day cabinet meeting at Messeberg Castle in Brandenburg, noting that the government’s goal is for measures to be “as adapted, targeted and as effective as possible.”
However, the chancellor expressed satisfaction with the progress made in efforts to offset the cut in natural gas supplies from Russia. Gas terminals on German shores are being built at an “incredible” pace, he said, and gas storage tanks are already more than 82 percent full. The supply security situation is “much better” than a few months ago, Olaf Soltz added.
