The scenarios for early elections in Turkey were fueled by an extraordinary meeting of the leadership of the ruling party of the AKP chaired by Erdogan on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
Officially, the topic of the meeting was the development of the party’s election strategy and the preparation of its election program.
However, political analysts in Ankara have not ruled out that Erdogan will announce double elections (presidential and parliamentary) in the near future in order to surprise the opposition, which does not yet have a generally recognized candidate.
However, yesterday, AKP spokesman Omer Celik tried to stop the elections, telling reporters that “there are no changes in the election schedule” that will take place on time, that is, in June 2023.
In any case, the meeting of the leadership of the ruling party lifted the veil of the election campaign for decisive showdowns, speeding up the processes in the Turkish opposition as well.
