The head of the Military Intelligence Service of Ukraine, General Kyrylo Budanov, declares that the course of the war is turning against Russia and it is “time for revenge”, reports “New Voice of Ukraine”.
Budanov also states that the Russians are beginning to realize that their army is not as strong as they thought, and that they are beginning to realize that they will not be able to maintain control over the conquered Ukrainian territories.
“The time for revenge has come,” he also said, adding that the Russian army “is not the second in the world, not even the fourth.”
“Military fate is turning against them,” he said.
His comments came after the Ukrainian military announced on Thursday afternoon that it had again struck the Antoniv Bridge over the Dnipro River, vital for supplying Russian forces in southern Ukraine’s Kherson region.
Also on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to increase the number of Russian armed forces by 137,000 people, which will come into effect on January 1.
Kyrylo Budanov says that Russian defense in Crimea “doesn’t really work”
The day before, the head of military intelligence of Ukraine stated that Russia’s military offensive is slowing down due to the moral and physical fatigue of the soldiers and Moscow’s “depleted” resource base.
In one of the most pointed comments by a Ukrainian official regarding the role of Kyiv’s armed forces in the Crimea bombings, he said that Russian air defense systems on the peninsula, illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, “do not actually work.”
“Crimea… is protected by the best Russian air defense systems. They are not actually working and are not able to defend the territory seized from Ukraine,” said the Ukrainian general.
It was Kyrylo Budanov on May 13, more than a month and a half before the Russians announced their withdrawal from Snake Island, who warned that Ukraine would never give it up and would fight for it “as long as necessary.”
The Security Service of Ukraine, the main intelligence agency of Kyiv, reported on August 8 about the prevention of an attempt on Budanov.
