During the survey, cities were compared on nine indicators (on a scale from 0 to 100):
- crime,
- safety,
- pollution,
- cost of local beer,
- outdoor activities,
- daily trips,
- spa and wellness centers,
- LGBTQ friendly and
- the general happiness of individual cities.
At the top of the list of the happiest travel destinations is Bali in Indonesia with an overall happiness score of 73.7.
According to a Club Med poll, Bali was the most popular destination due to the spas and wellness centers it had to offer and all the outdoor activities available.
After Bali, Las Vegas has been ranked as the second happiest travel destination due to all outdoor activities. The Nevada city also had a high safety score, scoring 67.1 on the happiness scale.
The third city on the list was New Orleans, which received the highest score on the LGBTQ+ friendliness scale and scored 67.1 points on the happiness index.

Although Amsterdam is fifth on the list, according to Club Med, it is Europe’s city with the lowest crime rate among the top 10, with a score of 33.6 out of 100. On the other hand, Budapest is where tourists will find the cheapest local beer.
