The river drought reported around the world this year has caused concern, but it has also revealed hidden treasures. After the revelation of the temple in China and the messages of the inhabitants of the Middle Ages in Europe, in Texas, the USA, they came to light dinosaur footprints – 113 million years old – in a dry river bed.

Dinosaur footprints were buried under water-covered sediments, which helped preserve them.

“Due to extremely dry conditions this summer, the river dried up completely in most places, exposing new trails in the park,” said Stephanie Salinas Garcia of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The discovery has excited officials at this park, which is located near the city of Dallas and has been dubbed “Dinosaur Valley” because of the presence of numerous dinosaur footprints in the area.

Images posted on social media by Dinosaur Valley National Park show one of the largest dinosaur footprint sequences in the world. Volunteers hurried to help specialists clear the area so that the tracks could be better seen.

“Most of the footprints recently discovered in different parts of the river belong to Acrocanthosaurus,” explained Stephanie Salinas Garcia. The theropod was estimated to have been 5 meters tall and weighed almost seven tons.

Sauroposidon is another dinosaur species that has left its mark on the park. It is estimated that with a long neck, it reached a height of 18 meters and weighed about 44 tons.

“Dinosaur footprints in the park date back 113 million years,” said Stephanie Salinas Garcia.

Dinosaur Valley State Park opened its gates to the public in 1972. As stated on its website, it aims to protect the many prehistoric footprints found in the area.
