Largest military aid package for Kyiv to date, amounting to nearly $3 billion, US President says Joe Bidenon her national holiday Ukraine, exactly six months after the start of the Russian invasion.
The $2.98 billion US military aid “will enable Ukraine to acquire air defense systems, artillery systems and munitions, unmanned anti-aircraft systems and radars to ensure it continues to defend itself in the long term,” Biden said. This is stated in a statement released by the White House.
“The United States is determined to stand by the Ukrainian people as they continue to fight to defend their sovereignty. As part of this commitment, I am proud to announce our largest military assistance package to date: approximately $2.98 billion in arms and equipment,” the US President said in a statement.
“I know this Independence Day has mixed feelings for many Ukrainians because thousands of people have been killed or injured, millions have been forced to leave their homes and so many have been victims of Russian attacks. But six months of incessant attacks only strengthened the pride of Ukrainians in themselves, their country and 31 years of their independence.”
Zelensky: Ukraine revived when Russia invaded
OUR Ukraine “reborn” during the Russian invasion and will fight “to the end” without “no concessions or compromises” with Moscow, the Ukrainian president said today Vladimir Zelensky in his emotionally charged speech on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of his country’s independencewhich this year coincides with six months since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
In his video message, Zelensky also stressed that Ukraine would return the Russian-annexed Crimea and the occupied territories in its eastern part.
“A new nation appeared in the world on February 24 at 4 o’clock in the morning. He was not born, but reborn. A nation that didn’t cry, didn’t scream, and wasn’t afraid. (Nation) that didn’t run. He didn’t leave. And I didn’t forget,” he said.
“We will fight for (our territory) to the end,” he stressed. “We have been doing well for six months now. It’s hard, but we clenched our fists and fight for our destiny,” he continued.
“For us, Ukraine is the whole of Ukraine. All 25 regions, without any concessions and compromises,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized, who, as usual, appears in military uniform in front of the central Independence Monument in Kyiv.
“What is the end of the war for us? We used to say: peace. Now we say: victory. We will not seek collusion with terrorists,” the 44-year-old president of the country concluded, addressing the Russians.
The streets of downtown Kyiv were unusually empty this morning after days of warnings about the possibility of more Russian missile attacks on major cities today, as Ukraine celebrates Independence Day from the Soviet Union.
