A senior official in the Russian-controlled Crimean city of Sevastopol said an air defense system was activated nearby after Russian media reported explosions in the city.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Russian-appointed Governor Mikhail Raznozaev said the facility had been shot down.
The Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, has seen a series of explosions over the past two weeks. Moscow last week attributed the explosion at an ammunition depot in the northern part of the region to Ukrainian saboteurs.
Ukraine hinted at involvement in the incidents, but did not immediately claim responsibility.
