Deputy Minister of Finance USA Wally Antegemo told his Turkish counterpart Yunus Elitas today that Russian legal entities and individuals are trying to use Turkey bypass them sanctions imposed by the West on the occasion of him war in Ukraine.

In a telephone conversation, the two officials discussed ongoing efforts to implement sanctions against Russia, according to a statement from the US Treasury Department.

The Turkish Ministry of Finance, for its part, reported that Elite emphasized Ankara’s deep economic and political ties with both Russia and Ukraine, but assured Countermeasure that Turkey will not allow sanctions violations.

“THEN Elite confirmed that Turkey’s position regarding the current procedures and sanctions has not changed, but will not allow any institution or person to violate the sanctions,” the Turkish ministry said in a statement.
