European demand for natural gas in 2022-2023 ranks first in Germany, Italy, the UK, France, the Netherlands and Spain (from 0.9 to 0.35 million GWh). Greece is among the countries with relatively low demand (about 0.1 million GWh). Of the overall European inflation (9%), almost half (4%) is accounted for by energy products, which, of course, reduces the prices of food and other services.
Comparison of electric and conventional IX
Some studies around the world show that an electric vehicle’s life cycle emissions are reduced by as little as 20% compared to the life cycle emissions of a conventional car of the same size. In particular, they estimate gas emissions from an electric vehicle at 160 gCO2-eq/km compared to 200 gCO2-eq/km for a conventional car.
LNG Suppliers and Infrastructure
The countries with the largest exports of LNG (liquefied natural gas) are Australia, Qatar and the United States (from 108.1 to 95 billion cubic meters). Russia is in fourth place with 95 billion cubic meters. In Europe, the countries with the largest number of operating or planned LNG terminals are Spain, Italy (6 stations each), followed by France, Turkey and Greece (5 stations each). In England and Germany there are 3 stations each, and in the Netherlands, Poland, Ireland and Estonia there are two each.
How many minerals do you need for a car
An electric car requires six times more fossil fuels than an internal combustion engine car, making it 340 kg heavier on average. For copper (53.2 kg versus 22.3 kg) and magnesium (24.5 kg versus 11.2 kg), the difference in kilograms is almost twofold. Additional materials needed to build an electric vehicle: graphite (66.3 kg), nickel (39.9 kg), cobalt (13.3 kg), lithium (8.9 kg), rare earth elements (0.5 kg), zinc (0.1 kg) and other materials in the amount of 0.3 kg. kg.
Triple the revenues of oil companies
Global investment in research and development in oil and gas has declined (about 50%) compared to the previous decade. However, the profits of major oil companies are skyrocketing, as they almost tripled in the second quarter of 2022 compared to 2021. Greece, apparently, instead of collecting revenues from national natural gas deposits, prefers to pay them to third parties in a threefold amount. prices…
Emission reduction champions
Based on 1990 emissions, the UK has the largest reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (estimated at 40%), making it the greenest country in the West, followed by Germany (30% decrease). By contrast, Australia increased its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% and Canada by 30%. Finally, the US does not seem to have curbed them.
