Cavusoglu: Greece is “lobbying” Turkey

The Turkish Foreign Minister yesterday made new provocative statements, Mevlut Cavusogluaccusing Greece of refusing to negotiate with it Turkey and that a smear campaign was launched against her.

“Apart from the lobbying and campaign launched by Greece against Turkey, we had several quick meetings… Our Defense Minister welcomed the Greek Defense Minister to the NATO meeting. I saw Dendias passing by in Madrid, we said hello. In addition, there was no meeting,” the Turkish Foreign Minister said.

“While Turkey demonstrates the desire to solve all problems in a comprehensive manner, Greece plays with time … It is clear that Greece is arming the islands. We have raised this issue at the UN and international forums. We cannot tolerate these violations of the Lausanne Treaty,” he said.

“The EU would be a ‘global player’ if it accepted Turkey’s entry into the bloc, if we took joint steps,” the Turkish Foreign Minister said.

The joint mechanism signed with the corresponding memorandum between Turkey, Sweden and Finland “to solve Ankara’s problems” will start working on August 26, Cavusoglu also said.

“But especially on the islands that are not far from us, that is, on the islands that were conditionally transferred to Greece under the Treaty of Lausanne and the Paris Peace Agreement of 1947, it is clear and obvious that Greece is arming them,” he said. .

“We have also put it on the agenda of the UN. We have reported this in other countries as well. And we will watch it. Because this is a clear violation of international law and international agreements,” Cavusoglu added.
