United States Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed on Thursday that federal agents searched former President Donald Trump’s Florida mansion to determine if he illegally removed records from the White House when his term expired.
Garland said he personally approved the decision to search the Trump home, and added that the Justice Department asked judges to print the search warrant filed as part of the investigation because of “substantial public interest.”

Recall that on Monday, August 8, FBI agents, armed with the necessary appropriate warrant, searched the private home of the former US president. Donald Trumpat Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
Their task was, as they say, to determine whether the 76-year-old Trump brought to his home secret documents that he took with him when he left the White House. The reason is that the secret documents that the former president should have – by law – long ago returned to the US National Archives.
Until recently, there was no answer to the question of what the federal police investigation is. The boxes that Donald Trump took with him when he left the White House in January 2021? Is he responsible for his followers’ attack on the Capitol? A financial fraud case being investigated against the Trump Organization, his business group, in New York?
