Kremlin called the appeal of the Ukrainian president “absurd”. Vladimir Zelensky Western countries to close their borders to Russian visitors to punish Moscow for attacking Ukraine.

In an interview with the Washington Post this week, Zelensky stressed that he considers “the most important sanctions are the closing of the borders, because the Russians are in the process of seizing the territory of another country.”

Whatever their political views, Russians must “live in their own world until they change their philosophy,” the Ukrainian president added in the interview.

“The absurdity of these arguments goes beyond all limits and can only cause a negative reaction,” a Kremlin spokesman responded today. Dmitry Peskov.

“Any attempt to isolate the Russians or Russia has no chance of success (…) These initiatives do not sound very good,” he added.

After Zelensky’s appeal, the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaya Callas today called on European countries to no longer issue tourist visas to Russians wishing to travel to Europe.

“Traveling to Europe is a privilege, not a human right… Time to put an end to tourism from Russia,” he tweeted.

In response, the former President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev compared Callas to a “Nazi”.

Russia is already subject to multiple economic sanctions that are hurting its economy.
