Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 again, a White House spokesman said today after the US president repeatedly coughed while speaking on a bill aimed at stimulating the US semiconductor industry.
President Biden gave a speech on the South Lawn of the White House to ministers, members of Congress and businessmen before signing a $53 billion domestic industry support bill for semiconductor manufacturing.
At several points during his speech, President Biden had to stop, turn to the side, and cough into his mouth or drink water. Which, as expected, did not go unnoticed and was commented on in social networks.
The 79-year-old US president recently contracted Covid-19 twice and was quarantined at the White House until Sunday.
“The president tested negative for Covid-19 yesterday and this morning,” a White House spokesman told reporters after Biden’s speech.
Joe Biden has suffered from asthma in the past, White House coordinator for the Covid-19 pandemic Asish Jha said last July, explaining that he is “prone to bronchospasm” and used inhalers occasionally.
