Plans for “THE LINE”, the first car-free vertical city, have been unveiled Saudi Arabia. At the same time, a video was released about the design of this city, a skyscraper covered with reflective surfaces, 500 meters high, which is intended to be a refuge for nine million people.
The rectilinear city project, 170 kilometers long and 200 meters wide, was initiated by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, and is described as a “cultural revolution”.
It is only 34 square kilometers in area and will house nine million people living in areas where all daily needs can be reached on foot in five minutes. The infrastructure of the city will make it possible to get from one end of the city to the other in 20 minutes, that is, without cars.
The line is planned as part of the Neom initiative and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 program aimed at diversifying the economy and reducing dependence on crude oil.
