Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today warned that if Russia continues with plans to hold referendums in the occupied territories on their union with Russia, it would destroy any prospect of renewed talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
“If the occupiers follow the path of fake referendums, they will exclude for them any possibility of negotiations with Ukraine and the free world, which the Russian side will clearly need at some point,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Russian and Ukrainian officials have held rounds of talks since Russia invaded Ukraine. However, no talks have taken place since the end of March, and both sides have accused each other of disrupting contacts.
