Five cargo boats loaded with grain will leave the Ukrainian ports of Chornomorsk and Odesa on Sunday to continue grain exports, the Joint Coordination Center (CCC), which is overseeing the operation, said on Saturday evening, AFP reported.

In total, the ships are carrying more than 161,000 tonnes of corn and food products to Turkey, China and Italy, according to the CCC, which will monitor their progress to Istanbul, where they will be inspected at sea before passing through the Bosphorus.

With these new shipments, Ukrainian grain exports are gradually resuming their regular rhythm.

In a statement, CCC said it was “completing regular export procedures” under the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the official name of the deal.

“The schedule may be affected by preparatory work and weather conditions or any other unforeseen circumstances,” the message says.

At the same time, the center gave permission for the cargo ship MV Osprey to go empty to Chornomorsk, as soon as it is inspected near Istanbul on Sunday.

The CCK was established in Istanbul in accordance with the terms of the international agreement signed on July 22 between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN.

This agreement frees the export of Ukrainian grain, blocked by the February 24 war, and Russian agricultural products, despite Western sanctions.

On Saturday evening, experts completed the inspection of the Navistar ship, which left Odesa for Ireland on Friday.

Two other ships that left at the same time will be inspected on Sunday, he said.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in an address to Ukrainians on Saturday evening, welcomed the resumption of export of Ukrainian agricultural products by sea. “Our Black Sea ports are working,” he said.

“But the main risk, security, remains. The danger of Russian provocations and terrorist acts remains. Everyone should be aware of this. But if our partners fulfill their obligations and guarantee the security of supplies, the world food crisis will be resolved,” he added.
