Ukrainian officials suspect that Russia is replacing the bridge Antonovsky from Kherson with a floating bridge. Satellite photos show a different plan, Der Tagesspiegel reports.
As the main bridges across the Dnipro River in the city of Kherson were badly damaged, the Ukrainians forced the Russians to repair them as quickly as possible to preserve the supply route. A mission that seems difficult. Currently, the ferry crossing is the only way to transport food across the Dnipro.
Reports similar to those in the New York Times were already circulating last week that Russia was trying to build a floating bridge next to the heavily damaged Antonovsky Bridge while restoration work continued.
An official of the Kherson regional state administration wrote that the Russians tried to secure parts of the floating bridge with the help of four tugboats.
The head of the Ukrainian military administration in Kherson believed that the Russians’ attempt was doomed to failure because “the current of the river made it impossible to raise the crossings.”
And apparently, Russia didn’t even try. Rather, Russia wants to prevent the Ukrainians from completely destroying the bridges with missiles.
Satellite photos and videos of the ferry crossing near the badly damaged Antoniv bridge in Kherson show that Russian troops are not installing a floating bridge there, but radar reflectors.
This is also reported by the American magazine “The War Zone”. The reflectors are in the water and hang from the two main bridges as seen in the photos.

Russian forces in Kherson were isolated
In its assessment of the fighting situation in Ukraine on Thursday morning, the British Ministry of Defense said that the Russians in the city of Kherson are isolated and their army vulnerable after Ukraine struck again on the most important bridge over the Dnieper River.
The Ministry of Defense in London also notes that the Russian army is stationed on the western bank of the Dnieper, in an extremely vulnerable position. Antonivsky bridge is the longest on the Dnieper.
The Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Yuriy Sokolevskyi has been warning since last week that the Ukrainians will isolate the Russians from Kherson.
“Under the current circumstances, the Orcs and their sympathizers in Kherson may be cut off from supply routes and retreat routes,” he said last Wednesday.
As for Igor Girkin, he once again lashed out at Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, saying that he is good at “herding deer” and “chopping firewood,” and adding that Russia would exchange them in Iran for a defense minister in Tehran. .
