Belarus is almost entirely dependent on Russia as Moscow began launching new missiles from the country bordering Ukraine for the first time since it failed to capture Kyiv at the start of the invasion, Britain’s Ministry of Defense said in an assessment on Sunday morning.

What British military intelligence says:
- On July 28, 2022, Russia fired at least 20 missiles at the north of Ukraine from the territory of Belarus.
- Russia also launched missiles from Belarus early in the invasion when it failed to capture Kyiv.
- Belarusian President Oleksandr Lukashenko continues to adhere to Moscow’s line on the conflict in Ukraine, saying on July 21 that Ukraine must accept Russia’s demands for an end to the war.
- Lukashenka’s regime is becoming increasingly authoritarian with the spread of the death penalty for “preparation of terrorist acts.”
- President Lukashenko’s increasingly numerous and unsubstantiated accusations of the West’s desire to control Belarus and Ukraine probably indicate that the country he leads has become almost completely dependent on Russia.
