
Beijing to impose sanctions on two institutions from Taiwanabout the ban on their economic cooperation with companies and individuals from mainland China, said yesterday, Tuesday, Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesman for the China Taiwan Affairs Administration.
These are the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy and the Taiwan Foundation for International Cooperation and Development, Ma said.
At the same time, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced that it will suspend the export of natural sand to Taiwan as of today, as announced in a statement yesterday.
The ban was activated after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan. This is the first visit by a senior US official to Taiwan in 25 years.
Also from today, China is suspending imports of citrus fruits and frozen fish from Taiwan, as announced by Chinese customs yesterday.
