Wind was the main source of power in Romania at lunchtime today as the National Meteorological Administration issued a code yellow and orange warning for strong winds and storms for the entire country.
Thus, according to Transelectrica data analyzed by HotNews.ro, wind turbines with a capacity of more than 2,000 MW were operating from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In total, wind turbines with an installed capacity of about 3,000 MW operate in Romania.
Peak production was still 2,217 MW at 11:50 a.m.
At that time, wind energy covered almost 40% of the country’s consumption, which was 5,600 MW.
High wind warnings will continue into the night. On the other hand, wind speeds that are too high can force operators to shut down the turbines because there is a risk of them breaking.
Today, Romania exports electricity, a large part of which goes to Ukraine
As the country’s electricity production exceeds consumption, our country exported more than 1,200 MW at lunchtime.
In particular, electricity went to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
Moldelectrica real-time data showed that as of 3:00 p.m., 450 MW of electricity was sent to Ukraine from Romania.
