Firefighters from the district of Prahova intervened on Monday evening to put out a fire of dry vegetation that spread over 50 hectares, writes News.ro.
ISU Prahova reports on Monday evening about a fire of dry vegetation – litter, shoots and wood mass in the commune of Shoimari. The fire covered 50 hectares.
The fire was extinguished around 22:40, reports Agerpres.
“There are several cells located at a great distance from each other, and the wind makes it difficult for the firefighters to work. Real efforts are being made to extinguish this fire,” ISU Prahova initially reported.
Firefighters explained that such an intervention is difficult, as fire engines are often unable to reach the area of the fire due to the lack of access roads. There are also no water sources on the territory.
“Given the danger caused by these events, we ask the local authorities and citizens to show maximum responsibility in their actions and take the necessary measures to prevent the occurrence of such fires. The burning of dry vegetation for the purpose of sanitary treatment of land is strictly prohibited,” the firefighters also reported.
