Disagreements between Democrats and Republicans in Congress regarding the $60 billion military aid package to Ukraine caused Ukraine to “roll back” at the front, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in an interview with the American daily Washington Post, which is quoted by news.ro.

“We lost six months,” complains Volodymyr Zelenskyi. “If there’s no American support, that means we don’t have air defense, we don’t have Patriot missiles, we don’t have electronic warfare, we don’t have 155mm artillery shells. This means that we will return stage by stage, step by step,” said the leader from Kyiv.

He noted that Ukraine needs weapons to stand on the front lines, citing as an example long-range missiles to hit targets in Crimea, from where the planes that bomb Ukraine take off.

“We can’t waste any more time. Ukraine cannot be a political issue between parties,” he said. “If Ukraine falls, Putin will divide the world,” Zelensky warned.

He noted that the Ukrainian army “managed to stabilize” the situation, but it was stuck in its current positions due to a lack of weapons.

“If you don’t take steps to prepare a new counteroffensive, Russia will do it. This is what I learned in this war: if you don’t do it, Russia will do it,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Volodymyr Zelensky called Joe Biden “cautious” in the supply of weapons, because he is “afraid of a nuclear attack by Russia.”

But the Ukrainian president believes that Vladimir Putin will not risk a nuclear conflict, even if he says that he considers it “madness” and that “no one in the world can say 100% what he will do.”

“Putin is Russian, but he is not smart. When you’re fighting an intelligent perosana, it’s a fight by the rules. But fighting a Russian is always dangerous,” he says.

Volodymyr Zelensky also emphasized that he would authorize the sending of American troops in February 2022 to deter a Russian invasion of his country.
