PNL MEP Siegfried Mureșan said on Saturday about joining Schengen by air and sea transport that in 2023, 13 million people would fly from Romanian airports to the Schengen area and from the Schengen area back to Romania, News.ro reported.

“Tomorrow we join the Schengen zone with an air border and a sea border. This is not a small thing. In the last few weeks, official figures for the past year have emerged: in 2023, 13 million people flew from Romanian airports to the Schengen area and from the Schengen area back to Romania. I say there are many,” said Siegfried Muresan at the Europe in Every Place regional conference held in Argeş.

He specified that all these people will no longer have to show their passports at the border from tomorrow.

“This is a success, this is a break from the impasse, this is the first step achieved by the PNL, by our ministers, by our government, obviously, with the active involvement of the president,” added Siegfried Mureşan, saying that tomorrow will be a day to celebrate.
