
A cruise ship with 160 people on board crashed overnight into a concrete wall in a lock on the Danube in the northern Austrian city of Asach an der Donau, Austrian police said, as cited by Reuters.
As a result of the accident, 11 people were injured and taken to the hospital.
According to the representative of the police of the city of Efferding, the cruise ship was sailing under the Bulgarian flag and was heading from the German region of Bavaria to the Austrian city of Linz. She continued her journey after evacuating the wounded.
The Austrian press reported that, in addition to the 11 hospitalized, there were six other people who received minor injuries and did not require special care.
Austrian authorities did not provide details on the seriousness of the injuries sustained by the 11 hospitalized.
