Eliza Samara scored a dramatic victory in the first round of the WTT Champions Incheon 2024 table tennis tournament.
The Romanian defeated Lily Zhang with a score of 3:2, after the match our athlete was 2:0 and tied.
Samara quickly won the first two sets, 11-4, 11-7 respectively, but inexplicably lost the next two, 11-3 and 11-9.
In the deciding match, she remained focused and was finally able to get the win, winning the 5th set 11-6.
In the 1/8 finals, Eliza Samara will meet the third ranked player in the world, Van Yidi.
Bernadette Shox and Eliza Samara represent Romania at WTT Champions Incheon 2024 (March 27-31), an exclusive tournament in South Korea with a total prize pool of $300,000.
The tournament, which will be held from March 27 to 31, will have a total prize pool of $300,000. The winner will receive a check for $15,000, the runner-up will receive $10,000, and the semi-finalists will each receive $7,500.
The tournament will also affect the world rankings, with the winner receiving 1,000 points, the finalist receiving 700 points and the semi-finalists adding 350 points to the current dowry.
The fight for the title will be fierce, the women’s table will feature the best players in the world ranking, such as Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, Wang Yidi or Chen Meng. The men’s team will not be missing the legendary Fan Zhengdong, Liang Jingkun, Ma Long or Felix Lebrun.
