Bucharest PSD President Gabriela Firea says the moment she is experiencing now, after not being nominated for another seat in the capital city hall, is a “reset”. She admits that she has been preparing to run in local elections for the past three and a half years, but says that although she has not received support from the PSD, she will remain in politics, in the PSD.

“Rebooting. It is true, I have been preparing to run for mayor for three and a half years. Politically, another decision was made in the coalition, about which I, after consulting with my colleagues from Bucharest, the Social Democrats, with my family, of course, with my close friends, decided to stay in politics, stay here in the PSD and continue my work (…) I like being a long-distance partner in both my private and professional life,” Gabriela Firea said Wednesday night on Antena 3, according to News.ro.

When asked if there were any obstacles in her run for mayor-general of Bucharest, Firea replied: “I don’t think there were necessarily any obstacles, other calculations were made, the fact that decisions were made not only at the party level, but in the coalition, like any person, I also have supporters and people who do not necessarily agree with me.”

She said that “many decisions with an emotional component” are made in politics. He also states that “there were moments” when he believes that he does not deserve “certain statements, insinuations.”

“I am now on this path of rebuilding our team, because the goal for which we have been fighting for three and a half years, which is to bring another administration to Bucharest, remains the same. There are other characters, there are others, but the goal is the same,” Firea added.

She claimed that “they are wrong” who claim that she will not campaign for Katalin Kirshta. Moreover, the ex-mayor noted that if he still had to work on himself, because he campaigned in recent years, now he will work more together with the team.

Fireya on candidacy for the European Parliament: “It was not the project of my life, but I do not consider it a departure”

Gabriela Firea, the former mayor of the capital, also admitted that the candidacy for the European Parliament was not her “life project”, emphasizing, however, that she does not consider this candidacy a “demotion”, according to News.ro.

“It wasn’t my vision of life, it wasn’t my life’s project, but I don’t consider it a demotion,” Firea said on Antena 3, talking about his candidacy for the European Parliament elections.

Asked if she believed she was being offered the job in Brussels so she would no longer be involved in local politics, Firea said: “I hope not.”

“They sent me there because all my colleagues know that I am a hard-working person, a dedicated person, that after the residency period I will be a useful member of our team and will come with good ideas,” she added.

She said she would be concerned “especially about attracting European funds for Bucharest”, as well as issues such as the family or equal opportunities.

Firea admitted that it will not be “very easy” for him to work in Brussels, given that his family will remain in Bucharest, but he says he relies on his family for support.

Ionuţ Stroe (PNL), on Gabriela Firea: “Probably not as violent as last time…”

PNL spokesman Jonutz Stroe also stated on Wednesday night in a show on Prima News that he firmly believes that Gabriela Firea will be an extremely important part of Katalin Kirsta’s political and electoral equipment and that she will be by his side even if she is no longer “that boisterous as before,” when campaigning for the capital’s mayor’s office.

“I think that Ms. Firea understood, even if she was a competitor of Mr. Kirshta, that in the end this decision is acceptable and, moreover, winning. I am firmly convinced that Ms. Firea will be an extremely important part of the political and electoral equipment of Mr. Katalin Kirsta, I am firmly convinced that Ms. Firea will be by his side,” Stroe said.

“You probably won’t see her as lively as the last time she campaigned for the capital city hall, but definitely from my point of view, Mrs. Fiera will be an extremely important element in this organization, and you will see the whole organization of PSD Bucharest and sector,” said Ionuc Stroe, News.ro reports.
