At the same time, at the same meeting, the BEC adopted the following decisions and resolutions:

  • “Decisions on the documents to be submitted by political parties, organizations of citizens belonging to national minorities, political alliances, electoral alliances and independent candidates for the admission of candidates from Romania to the European Parliament in the 2024 elections;
  • The decision on amendments to the Resolution of the Central Election Bureau No. 2Н/20.03.2024 regarding the uniform application of the provisions of Art. 51 par. (1) from Law No. 115/2015 on elections of local public administration bodies, on amendments to the Law on Local Public Administration No. 215/2001, as well as for amendments and additions to Law no. 393/2004 regarding the Statute of local elected officials with subsequent amendments and additions and Art. 8 Resolution on emergency situations no. 21/2024 on some measures regarding the organization and conduct of the elections to the European Parliament from Romania in 2024 and the elections to local bodies of public administration in 2024,” the document of the Central Election Bureau states.

The cooperation between the PSD and the PNL in the local elections caused a scandal in the PNL. The party leadership decided to fire Alin Nitsa from the leadership of PNL Timiş, after he opposed the alliance with PSD at the local level.

PSD and PNL also decided to run together in Brasov (PNL candidate), Bacău (PSD candidate) and Timișoara (PSD District Council and PNL Timişoara City Hall). There will also be joint candidates for the positions of mayors of sectors (Sector 1 for PNL and sectors 2 and 5 for PSD), after the coalition has already announced that it supports Katalin Kirsta for the post of mayor general of the capital.
