Poland are the latest national team to reach the finals of this summer’s European Championship after beating Wales 5-4 on penalties in the final of the Play-off route A for the final tournament in Germany.

Poland qualified for EURO 2024 after beating Wales on penalties

The scenario in Tbilisi (Georgia defeated Greece on penalties) was repeated in Cardiff: the score was 0-0 after 120 minutes and a penalty was needed to decide the winner.

Lewandowski, Szymanski, Frankowski, Zalewski and Piatek scored for the Poles, Davis, Moore, Wilson and Williams for the Welsh (Szczesny saved James’ shot).

Thus, Poland will be part of Group D at Euro 2024, along with the Netherlands, Austria and France.

Also on Tuesday, Georgia defeated Greece in a penalty shootout (4-2), while Ukraine defeated Iceland (2-1) and will enter Romania’s group along with Belgium and Slovakia.
