King Charles III, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, will attend the traditional Easter service in Windsor on Sunday, Buckingham Palace announced in a statement on Tuesday, AFP and Reuters reported, citing Agerpres.
He will go to the chapel of St. George of Windsor with Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family.
Heir to the throne William and his wife Kate, who revealed on Friday that she also has cancer, will be absent, but will take time out of the media spotlight with their children.
In early February, Buckingham Palace announced that the king was suffering from cancer, discovered during prostate surgery a few days earlier, and that he had begun treatment. Since then, Charles III has withdrawn from all official public engagements, but continues to perform certain official functions and attend small meetings, such as meetings with the Prime Minister.
On Tuesday, he received representatives of various religions at Buckingham Palace.
British monarchy shaken by two consecutive cancer diagnoses
Last Friday, Princess of Wales Kate announced that she too has cancer, without specifying its nature, and that she has begun undergoing preventive chemotherapy.
She was diagnosed with cancer after major abdominal surgery in mid-January.
The royal said he was “proud” of her courage after weeks of media and social media speculation sparked by Kate’s absence from public after Christmas.
According to the British press agency PA, the Prince of Wales will resume his public duties after the Easter vacation and the return to school of the children of the couple, George, Charlotte and Louis.
