But there were no casualties, the authorities are investigating the causes of the fire at the Novocherkassk power plant in Rostov, Governor Vasyl Golubev reported on Telegram.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces had destroyed 11 drones launched overnight over Rostov, Ukraine, which borders the region, but did not say if there was any damage.
Instead, the Baza TV channel, close to Russian law enforcement agencies, said that the fire at the factory was caused by Ukrainian drones.

Novocherkassk is one of the largest power plants in southwestern Russia, its owner OGK-2, which is controlled by a subsidiary of the Russian energy giant Gazprom, reports on its website.
