The incident took place in the Budeshta Maramures commune after police intervened after they were told that a 55-year-old man had attacked another 73-year-old man. Arriving at the scene, the aggressor threatened them with a sword, in connection with which they used their weapons and shot him in the leg, reports the local newspaper ZiarMM.

According to IPJ Maramureș, the police initially fired vertically, but because the man continued to threaten them

“The weapon was used by warning shots in the vertical plane, and later in the direction of the man, in the area of ​​the legs,” the Maramures police said.

After the injury, the man was immobilized and taken to the hospital for medical assistance

The incident is currently the subject of an investigation launched by a comprehensive police team, Maramures police said.

Also, the aggressor is brought to criminal liability for insult, violation of public order and peace and beating or other violence.
