In the context of the presidential elections in Russia, which will be held from March 15 to 17, Mircea Joane was asked what it means for Vladimir Putin to receive a new mandate.

“If someone thinks that these elections are elections in the democratic world, then this is clearly not the case. This is the continuation of this political regime in Moscow, and, unfortunately, we do not see a change in the approach neither in Ukraine, nor to the West, nor to NATO. Therefore, we have to prepare for at least a few more years of tense relations, NATO fulfills its duty, we protect our territory and allies, and take appropriate measures. A more aggressive Russia means NATO is more ready to restrain this aggression,” said Mircea Joane.

Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Joane, was in Constanta on Saturday, where he held a meeting in the premises of the Port of Constanta with the operators of the Business Association of the Port of Constanta and presented his book “The Battle for the Future of Romania. Thoughts of a Romanian at the top of NATO”.

At the debate, Joanne was asked if he would run for president

“Announcements, decisions about what I will do after working in NATO, I will work after working in NATO. I feel that right now the September election is without a doubt the most important election in the last 25 years. Puyu Hasotti is here and understands what I’m saying. The world is changing and people will be very careful about who goes out. I tried and saw the models of the presidents and I think that at the moment when the Constitution says that the president is a super party and I think that this year is the year of independents,” said Joane, as quoted by Ziua de Constanța.

“Presidential elections in Romania seem to mobilize Romanians and Romanians from the diaspora and the country in much greater numbers compared to other elections. The personality, identity and religion of the president are important. I’m not discounting the importance of parties, but you don’t have to depend on parties to get into office. When I say independent, I mean independent of parties,” NATO Deputy Secretary General also stated.

The România Renaşte platform, which, according to political sources cited by News.ro, will support the candidacy of Mircea Joane for the presidency, published on a specialized website a vacancy announcement for the presidency, the ideal candidate is a visionary leader, “with experience work in important positions, preferably outside Romanian politics”, having “a bachelor’s degree and all the diplomas obtained at the time”.

“It can’t be like that anymore! It’s time for a change! There is only one way! We must choose honest, patriotic and competent people who will represent us, led by a President with vision, courage, experience and independent of the interests and ways of functioning of the Romanian parties. Romania is a drifting country, looking for a president! A person who will be our ally, a person who understands that a politician means nothing without a community!”, says the message posted on the Romania Renaste website.
